Why?

I love a good source of jewelry findings, materials, beads/stones, etc. As you may or may not already know I reside in beautiful Dallas, TX. Once upon a time we had bead shops galore. My 2 favorite places, May's Beads & Beads Unlimited have closed, and now Joann is closing.
While I don't find Joann to be a great source for natural stones, I do like them for storage options, findings/materials, and the odd sale. Joann is going out of business, and everything is on sale. I have been in need of more necklace boxes, but they've proven elusive. I guess they're in short supply and everything is getting snatched up when restocked. I finally found 1 lonely, solitary package of boxes in Plano of all places. The cashier who checked me out barely said 2 words to me, and seemed like he was just done. He came across as being 1 bad interaction from burning the place down. He seemed unhappy. I imagine the closures impact team morale, and I can't help but wonder if Joann was always like that. I don't think so, as this type of encounter was a first for me at Joann.
As for bead shopping, May's and Beads Unlimited were the absolute best, with huge selections, rare finds, and steep markdowns. May's moved to Houston. If I ever get another car I'll have to make a trip. It'd be worth it. We still have some bead shops here, but nothing like May's.
I am just 1 person. I'm making jewelry from home. I am definitely not a big Corporate Conglomerate ™ with huge wholesale buying contracts at Acme Jewelry Supply Co. I don't think I'd like that anyway. I like going to my favorite bead shops and feeling and seeing all the things.
Yaaasssss.
