Several years ago I was working at the corporate office for the parent company of many of the big-name jewelers in the USA and Canada, doing tech support. I am always looking for a creative outlet, a way to occupy and stimulate my brain and express myself in fun, new ways. I remember talking to my coworker about maybe making some earrings. I told her I'd seen some videos and I thought that maybe "I can do that!"

So I did.

I did watch a few YouTube videos here and there to find some direction and get the process started, but I soon found that I have a natural knack for making jewelry. I love colors, textures, stones, findings, all of it. I love the feel of stones/beads in my hands. I love the tink-tink clink of beads. I love the cool touch of metals.

The more I made, the more obsessed I became.

I sold a few things, gave away a few things, and I was hooked. I started building my collection of materials, beads, and tools. I obsessed over inspo online. I setup an Etsy and sold some stuff, but I quickly grew tired of their fees, as do many creators/sellers. Believe it or not, the best platform I've ever been on for jewelry sales is Twitter! (I refuse to call it by any other name!) Word of mouth is the best advertising ever. I have made a ton of custom pieces for people all over the USA. I love the whole process - talking with clients, discussing specifics like colors, stones, design, etc., and I really do enjoy making custom stuff. The best part is hearing from clients that they absolutely love their jewelry! What started as a creative outlet grew into something so therapeutic, so rewarding.

I am just 1 person, making beautiful goodies from home - both custom, and my own creations. While I do love selling jewelry, I admit I love giving it away too. I give random stuff to friends, and I have been known to run contests here and there too! I have a good friend in Boston, MA who is a frequent recipient of Craftylishus pieces.

Aside from making jewelry I do work full-time at a bakery downtown. In my spare time I either kick it at home or get out and explore the city. I lead a simple life, and I like it like that. I love good food, cooking, pugs, humor, reading, painting, music, and making people laugh. I am a former radio DJ right here in Dallas as well! Never married, no kids. I'm just a girl with a few beads and the need to create! So, that's that.
